(More customer reviews)All in all this is a very good product. Does what it says it will do.
Mine is mounted on a V2 Powerdrive unit. A few things about this unit could be changed. For example the PAUSE/Hold for 2 seconds OFF button when held for 2 seconds only turns the remote off. It does not turn off the prop or autopilot or other features which will continue to operate even as the unit is taken out of the water. I contacted Minn-Kota directly and they confirmed this at their support site. Do not know if they will respond to this. My recommedation was to change the firmware (if possible) to send turn off commands to all I-Pilot functions as the remote is powered off / or change the manual to BOLDLY state that the remote off button does not turn the unit off.
When I trolled past a large Lund boat which had (I don't know what on board) my I-Pilot started to operate independently of my remote. It would swing violenty to left when I pushed the left remote button briefly. Then it would swing violently to the right when I briefly pressed the right button. The prop would not turn off with the remote. I had to completely remove power from the unit to regain control and by then I had drifted far enough away from the Lund. Do NOT know if this was cause and effect but it has not happened since. I contacted Minn-Kota regarding this event and I believe was not taken seriously.
When the Powerdrive with I-Pilot is connected to the battery it draws about .3amps all the time even when the unit is powered off. I believe this would be so that it can be in contact with the GPS satellites all the time. I have to disconnect the unit from the battery except when I am on the water and using it.
