I have been using hang on tree stands first with screw in steps, which are a real pain and also illegal in many areas. I have some steel stick ladders that work well but are heavy to carry.
The Bucksteps are much lighter, go on the tree easily and are secure. I like you can stand with both feet on the step as you secure your tree stand. I used the Bucksteps to put up three hang on treestands yesterday. The stands are up and secure and pretty safe from theft. I now just carry in the Bucksteps to whichever stand I choose to hunt and scurry up the tree like a large squirrel.
I am 60+ and used these steps with ease. Always wear a full body safety harness when using and installing any tree stand.
